The Medal has the form of a circle with diameter of 36 mm. The averse bears the effigy of the Sovereign (Alexander I, Ferdinand I, Boris III) with his name and title inscribed around. The reverse features a sitting woman, her left arm resting on a shield charged with a crowned Bulgarian lion, holding a laurel wreath in her right hand, stretched forward. In front of her are a pal- ette, a lyre, a globe, and a book; on the background is featured the front of a temple with the stature of the god- dess Pallas Athene. Below is inscribed: "3A HAYKA И ИСКУСТВО" (slightly changed into "ЗА НАУКА И ИЗКУСТBO❞ in Boris's and the Republican issue).
This award is worn on a triangular ribbon, with red and white stripes, edged with white and green.
